Critical Race Theory
"I was born in a small town that had only one black family that I never really met or saw. It was thick with homogeneity that it was almost impossible to think for myself; a true culture bubble. Don't get me wrong, the homogeneity also created a very safe place to grow up. My parents also create a safe and accepting home environment that gave me a solid foundation for my formative years. The good is that I grew up feeling secure. But on the other hand, I grew up with no exposure to anything different. I lived in an echo chamber that did nothing but force me to hear myself and my ideas repeated back to me... ad nauseam. During my time in college (early 1980s) my best friend was the only black female student in the college. We ended up getting married three years later. That newly found sensitivity and empathy completely changed my life. I made a commitment to myself that I would never live in a segregated neighborhood or go to a segregated church but would always choose my work
